The Catcher in the Rye- done.
I’m blazing through these.
Notes from the Underground now, then The Gambler.
Middlesex and Passion had to go back to the library, due to late fees. =(. I know, I’m bad. I had to pay about $1.50. They were on hold for somebody so I’ll have to renew them and finish them at a later date. Shame, at least about Passion. Middlesex was starting to drag, but I would’ve still finished it.
Now reading Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger (for the second time since I’ve checked it out…most of the stories take more than reading to determine if they’re good or not), then The Catcher in the Rye. Since Franny and Zooey I’ve wanted to read all things Salinger.
I finished Franny and Zooey (thought I wasn’t going to like it very much, but I was wrong), and am now reading Middlesex. It’s kind of hard to get through because it’s so darn sad, and has already made me cry after only fifty pages. I really like it though.
I looked for the Inferno on my library’s website, but they don’t have the translation that I want. =(
I liked the Longfellow translation in high school that everyone else hated.
So I reserved Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger, and Passion by Jude Morgan. I have to read a lot right now, as summer school starts really soon and I won’t have as much time!
I read the Inferno in high school and loved it, but I’d probably appreciate it more now.
Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, here I come!
-Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (reread, but I hadn’t read it since I was about ten years old)
-Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel
-The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
-Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
-Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
-Choke by Chuck Palahniuk
-Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen
-Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates
-Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
-Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
Currently reading:
-Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi
-Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
-A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn
