This one has taken a back seat for a bit... 4 years ago

...which isn’t good. Work has just been kicking my ass, and I’ve been exhausted. On top of that, everybody I know seems to be having some kind of major event going on, so in the end I have VERY LITTLE free time. This insane heat wave hasn’t inspired me to go leave the comforts of AC.

A note to the gyms of the world. 4 years ago

ITS HOT OUTSIDE!

Do ye mind turning on the AC?

I'm sure they meant well 4 years ago

But I nearly busted my ass while trying to use Yourself Fitness in my bedroom. Now the concept is great. I loved the idea behind it, BUT you need a ton of free space, and I really have very little in there. Also, for a variety of reasons, things in my room were shaking a LOT. This has quite a lot to do with the fact that the floors aren’t even and some furniture needed to be propped up on one end to be made level, which compromised their stability a wee bit. And I’m not tiny. I’m not Jabba size but I’m no Kate Moss either. Anyway, this one’s going up on ebay.

Gotta lug my ass to the gym 4 years ago

Between being sick for weeks and weeks, and getting the new job, and running around the North Fork vineyards drinking everything in sight, I’ve been a wee lax about getting to the gym. Soooooo….

Yeah I’m gonna go tonight :P

(Assuming I remember where my gym pants & lock are)

Sleep 4 years ago

They say a good night’s rest is needed for proper weight loss. I suppose I should stop playing Burnout 3 and go to bed…

But I’m having so much fun with road rage…

Avoid anything with Maltitol 4 years ago

Maltitol is a sugar alcohol that has a particularly strong laxative effect. I know a lot of people who have tried a bunch of low carb foods that are sweetened with Maltitol or something similar that have made many trips to the throne room. Stick with splenda.

Getting there 4 years ago

Slowly but surely, without the insanity. I’m sure there are more rapid, more efficient methods than what I’m doing (eating better, exercising more) but I’d like to maintin my sanity as well as more than just a shred of dignity.

Having some success 4 years ago

I’ve been getting to the gym more often, which is obviously beneficial, but I’ve made other major changes to my diet which have helped just as much, if not more so.

I tried doing the South Beach Diet. Though I haven’t been following it like I should I’ve adopted most of its principles, and its actually pretty smart.

Look, cut out the major sources of sugar and refined products and processed goods. Eat veggies and meat and whole grain foods. Have Kashi with unsweetened soy milk for breakfast. You’ll poop like a madman but you’ll be thankful for it.

Kashi Go Lean cereal% is all fiber but man, its FILLING.
