Are there any easy to read guides? 4 years ago

Every time I look for a guide to playing go I open it up and immediately I feel like a moron. Its as though you need a Master’s in game theory to understand the information as its presented. And while I can understand the appeal of reading about the long, rich tradition of the game, can someone please write a how to guide without going off on historical tangents?

I picked up Go For Kids once, but take a look at that book sometime. Its like the most boring, badly worded textbook of all time with some artwork slapped in to confuse you further and make you feel worse about not understanding a kids book. Or maybe I’m just an idiot.
