Since I’ve moved back to NYC I haven’t been driving much, and even when I do, I’m in my Echo. My little car gets 38mpg highway, 32mpg city. I’m good for noe.

This weekend I got to try the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid SUV, and…

Wow. It was sweet. I fell in love. I so would love it.

Then I looked at the price tag and nearly evacuated my bowels.

Is there any data on battery life? 4 years ago

I love the idea of hybrids, but I am somewhat concerned about the overall life of the battery. Is there any real data out there showing the overall lifespan of the battery in hybrids, what sort of issues there are, costs of replacement, etc? As far as I know, and this is only from what others have told me, replacing a battery in a hybrid can cost 5000 + labor. Aie!
