This has been an ongoing problem for me for as long as I can remember.
Most nights I am lucky to get 3-5 hours of sleep. With that being said, I rarely sleep 3-5 hours straight through without waking up every couple of hours. In a 5 hour period, it is normal for me to wake up three times.
I spend most of my days bumbling around like a walking zombie. No fun at all.
A few days ago, my new doctor gave me some natural supplement to take at night to help me sleep. I am sure the lack of sleep has resulted in my weight gain, my increased frequency of headaches and eye twitches, as well as my mood.
With all that being said, I did sleep 12 hours last night. I had a glass of wine which is rare for me. I never drink. Also, I have been sick for the past week. So … I have the ability to sleep – but only if I am sick or under the influence. Great :P
Ugh, I suck at sleep.
I am still averaging about 3-5 hours a night and I really want to be getting at least 6-7 hours a night.
I need to be up at 5:45 a.m. most days, which means I need to be asleep by 10ish every weekday night.
Can this happen?
Doubtful. I don’t think I have ever gone to bed that early with the exception of nights when I have a migraine or am violently ill.
i wake up at 5:45 monday-friday.
because i am so used to that… i wake up the same times on the weekend…which really sucks when i want to be able to sleep in.
generally speaking, i cannot fall asleep before 1 a.m. so i am getting about 4 1/2 hours of sleep at night and then going to work with children with autism all day ( i mention this because i really need my energy).
i am trying to aim for 8 hours at night…. but i cannot seem to get that yet. the last few weeks i have been falling asleep at about 11:30 – 12 … so it is a bit better, but i need to start going to bed by 10ish during the week.
that is the goal i am working towards.
...like clock work, i wake up between 5:45 and 6 a.m. every morning ( even on my days off). i tend to go to bed between 12-2 a.m. which just doesn’t give me sufficient sleeping time.
i started going to the gym in the mornings this past week and it is helping me fall asleep earlier for sure which is a huge difference for me.

On average though, I am just too used to getting 4-5 hours a night. Ugh.
