I am hopefully running a 5k on New Year’s Day. It won’t be fast, and it will be nowhere around 23:00, but I don’t care at this point. I just want to run a 5k again.

Man…I really am not doing a good job with this goal. It’s hard to run after work because I’m exhausted. I’m trying to get to bed early enough so I can wake up at 5 and run BEFORE work, but I have so much crap going on that I haven’t.
Well, I went on a 3 mile run on Wednesday…then the so-called Blizzard of ‘08 hit, and I couldnt really run on the roads. Hopefully I will be better at this this week!
This was a goal my coach set for me my senior year of cross country. My PR was a 23:03. That was the same year my coach sent a freshman (who had been out 80% of the season on injury) to districts instead of me, even though I had worked very, very hard and been an asset to the team all throughout the entire season. I feel like accomplishing this will fix some of that disappointment and help me feel better about my running.
