Finish the first draft of my fantasy novel by December, 2006

But done! As of Mid-February, I finished the first chapter of my fantasy novel and am currently working diligently through the first draft copy, as well as hammering out the outline of events to take place in the sequel. It’s nearly time to start thinking about publishing. Huzzah!

Since I have not been able to finish as much of this as I would have liked, I am now postponing my deadline to December, 2006, no specific day named yet, but will focus on a date and amend the goal in a couple of weeks. Starting back to my final semester of classes will put me in a crunch, with graduation, so I decided that an extra three months or so will give me time to focus and do the best work I can.

I have hardly updated my chapters at all…. I think it’s because of the pressure I put on myself with a deadline, but as a writer in the real writerly world, deadlines are key. I must do this. I am very close to reaching a major climax in the story’s plot, so that is good. Perhaps I will finish that chapter this afternoon before I go to work with incense.

There are exactly TWO weeks for me to finish this first draft! I am not giving up!!!

Back on track with this, I put a dent in the 1000 words that’s been sitting there blinking back at me for a week. I’m on a new avenue now, ready to unravel the rest of this baby. Woohoo! It feels good to get back on track. Not that I didn’t do any other writing while I was blank with this one. I completed the first draft of a short story I’ve grown rather fond of. :)
