Always have something to look forward to

My daughters will be home from college again in December. It was great to see them (and all of their old high school friends.. and all of their friends parents) over the Thanksgiving break.

I am a bit torn though—I love seeing them—but think I should be looking forward to some things that are just for me. There is a potential for too much vicarious living…

Looking forward to some outdoor time.. No matter that there is a heatwave in progress here. I am looking forward to getting hot and walking into the lake to cool off. Had to schedule some unscheduled time—I can’t wait to check off tomorrow’s TODO list. We will do some spa work, some beach work, some shopping work and ice cream work.

Its bittersweet. I know it will be amazing for them (and hard for me). I can’t wait to hear about all of their adventures and new people in their lives… and also to see what happens in my life.

I love it..love it..love it… I am going on one last college trip with Z. We will bond—I will wear my cool sun glasses. Next week I will go again. David picking me up at the airport and we are going to the Getty before we get down to our boring business.

This always inspires me. Most days I will notice the sky at some point in the day and marvel.
