Well, we hit a bit of a snag – my transcript from Napier wasn’t the right stuff needed to get credit this year, but it’s fine. I’m just going to dive straight into the required courses, the ones I NEED to have majored in History and Art History, and then hopefully the credit will be sorted in time for next semester/next year so I can cut out the middle courses.
If not, three years here, looking at what’s available, would be fine by me.
Chosen my courses for 2013 and I’m just super excited to get back into the classroom again!

So I applied for uni a few weeks back.
Went for the Arts degree at UQ.
Now I just have to sit back and wait!
First round of offers is in December for the more competitive courses so I think I’ll be waiting until January to hear back. Meanwhile, I’ll keep saving!

SO!
Decided that the University of Queensland might be for me after all!
It’s the same structure as Melbourne so I can double major in Art History and History and I can stay home to save a pretty penny! It ranks pretty highly in both the Australian and world rankings too, which is excellent, and the campus up at St Lucia is just lovely.
The advantage of this, aside from saving money by living at home, are that it will allow me to keep any job I have by then (providing they’re up for changing my hours).
The money I do save by staying home is going towards my Study Abroad goal – the NYFA do a four week course in filmmaking in Paris that I’m really interested in. The dates have worked well the last couple of years with four weeks I’d get off in June so yeah, might be an option!

Still jobless, which makes this goal seem all too distant.
I’ve decided to stay in Brisbane right through until the degree programme starts in March next year, so I can save up as much as I can.
Paying over my overdraft and closing my student account in the UK are massively important and, after putting money away for university, that’s next on the list for when the wages finally start coming in.
If, worst comes to worst, something goes wrong with my accreditation and my prior learning isn’t recognised, I’ve been looking over the full courses and doing the whole three years, plus a year for honours, is definitely another option. It means I put off my MA in York for a while longer, but the hons count as half of that so that might play out well. Either way, I’m adding on the extra hons year, just to tighten up my degree.
I’ve decided to do a double major in history and art history, with electives in creative writing and screen studies, just to keep a mix of interests.

I have a savings account so I can start putting money away for this which is definitely a start.
2013. That’s the goal.

A fairly epic task.
I ran away from Napier with a diploma and now I feel it’s time to start saving up the pennies to get that Bachelors.
I’ve really thought things over and, in a “if I don’t get where I want to be with my writing” kind of way, I really want to be a history teacher.
So I’m going to get my BA, then get my MA and then see where we’re up to.
I’m looking at the university of Melbourne, as they’ll take the credits I already have and let me major in history on a Bachelor of Arts course. Spending 2012 paying off my overdraft from the UK and saving up for this next phase in my life.
Wish me luck!
