Learn vb.net

Okay, I’ve installed Visual Studio Pro on my work machine, and I have two Wrox books on VB.Net sitting on the corner of my desk, so now I just need to get my butt in gear and start working through the books.

It looks like the company I work for is going to continue to cuddle closer and closer to Microsoft; I doubt that I’ll be moving out of the valley any time soon; and I doubt that I’ll find any better job here in the valley. This all leads me to the conclusion that I might as well learn the language to try to keep my programming skills somewhat useful for the company, before some college kid comes in and steals my job out from under me because I’ve become obsolescent. I already bought a couple of books, and now I just need to install the software and get cracking. I suppose it would also be nice to have it at home, but that means that I need to get a Windows 2000 or XP box at home, too. More money for Mr. Gates, as though he needs it…
