The farthest north that I’ve managed to get so far is Whitehorse, in the Yukon, about 61 degrees N lat. (That’s not counting a transpolar flight from Copenhagen to Seattle that got above 80 degrees—in the dead of winter.) Not quite far enough to experience the midnight sun, but close enough to be tantalizing… I remember the sky remaining light until nearly 11pm, and watching the sun set remarkably far to the north of west.
I’m planning to return to Alaska this summer, so perhaps some careful correlation of location and timing will let me check this one off…
