be a photographer

taking some awesome pictures of a lightening storm and of an orange full moon. Figured out a fair amount with regards to aperture and shutter controls and lighting. I am very much looking forward to taking more photos.

I set up some lights with umbrellas and slave flashes and photographed my mothers artwork. It all was framed with very reflective glass, which was tricky. Still, I got about 80 relatively perfect shots. There were a couple of shots with flaws, but otherwise, they look just like the artwork. As well, and much more importantly, I am carrying my camera with me (at least in the car) wherever I go. Now I am always ready to catch more pictures…

I have stuck with photographing all of the 100 things that make me happy… I think I am up to 8….

As well, when I was in Mexico recently, I had no time whatsoever to do anything that I wanted. Really, I just didn’t have any time. That said, I still took a few moments in each day to look with fresh eyes at the things around me and capture some of these things in photos. These were photographs, some I caught, most I missed, but still all images that were selected and set up for the camera.

For a change, and unlike the 800 other photographs I got on my trip, these were taken to be nothing more than what they are…

I finally finished my insurance claim for the camera. I would like to say another good thing about the Pentax ist DL, it hasn’t devaluated much since I got it. Way to go Pentax. Hopefully I will hear in the next few days about my claim then I can go down to the camera store and get me a new one!!!

I am thinking of getting this bad boy…

My camera got stolen when my dad borrowed it and took it to China (months ago). No biggy, I have insurance and I was hoping to upgrade the camera, although I did love it. The pentax ist Digital SLR is awesome. The resolution is a little low, especially now, but I had a bunch of lenses (all gone now). In any case, for a starter slr it is great and relatively cheep. Alas no more.

In any case, I have been stuck with a small Canon Powershot SD30. Now, I have no complaints about this camera, it is small and portable. I can carry it anywhere I go and I get a lot more action/memory shots. Not that you can’t get great shots with it, you can, I just don’t use it the same way. Actually, it is an awesome camera.

Last week I misplaced my camera, so I had nothing (the bad part of a small camera, I never know which pair of pants, coat, whatever, I left it in). I could be happy no more, because I couldn’t get photos to go with my list. I have found the camera, so entries will flow again. Hazzah!! Some of the things that make me happy are going to be hard to photograph though…

I think I will photograph each of my 43 things(okay, only 18 so far) and put an entry in each with my photo. Not off to a good start, I don’t have a photo for this entry, I will have to edit it later and put the photo in….(photo found and posted, #1 down).
