I may have found us a new member...

Although I am not sure… I think we need to flesh out our cult a little more before we take on members. After all, we do not want our cult co-opted and taken over…
Still, I am not so sure I really have time to put into the cults activities right now, it may interfere with work and getting the kids to school on time…
That said, if not now, then when? Am I ready to assign this goal to the pile of goals that I am not working on, just another goal without a drive?
There is no better time than the present to add some ideas and ideals to the cult…
To recap we have:

So it is decided all people who want to join must send us a photo of themselves wearing their home designed togo

Someone could say, ‘que es mi dios la lbertad’, and the response is ‘mi ley, la fuerza y el viento’ (my law is force and the wind). All of this said over a guttering candle in the back of a rickety canal front dive, 2 shots of scotch on the table and 2 mugs of what may very well be some ale. Only then could we get down to cult business…

I have no problem with the burning of the wicker Edmund Burke, but I recommend that the person who is in charge of the ceremonies for the night (we need a name for this person…) have chosen the person whose effigy is to be burned, remembering that the goal is to honour the Sublime and Beautiful in life…. I like the dancing, and the more whirling in ecstatic devotion that we can include the better.

Clearly here is where the wine comes in, and I think that given the evenings earlier pursuits of enlightenment and sophistication (in its most antequated terms) this would call for an overindulgent spree of… well… indulgence…. I do think some secrecy as to what happens in these later evenings is important, both because first secrecy is cool and second, I am not sure exactly how indulgent we want our cult to get. Could get weird.

Also a higher purpose must be identified, and although I am a fan of space prupolsion devices, this has been done to death by too many cults before us (see Heaven’s Gate and Scientology).

So, the new thought I was thinking about is some dichotomy of mind and body, some juxtaposition of cerebral with physical, a separation of mind and body. We have discussed the enlightenment, so the theme for the second part with be sensualism… I don’t think I have any desire to define that, but to leave it open…

Thoughts, feelings, issues, new business?

Okay, I have a potential 'motto' for our cult.

Our school had a motto, ‘Esse Quam videri’, oddly enough, this is the same motto as North Carolina. It was ironic that the principal in my final years there was only interested in all of the students conforming to her iron fisted rule (okay, maybe there is a little bit of youthful revisionism going on there, but seriously, she wanted all the students to be the same). In any case, Esse Quam Videri, if you haven’t already googled it, means, to be, rather than to seem. A very cool motto no doubt and I would say that for most of the history of the school, quite apropos. In any case, the school is no more.

Now, on to our potential motto. ‘que es mi dios la libertad’. It isn’t latin, true, but it isn’t english. It is taken from a poem (yep, from my spanish reader). I was taken with it. I like the way they say it. English is, My god is freedom. The poem is ‘Canción del pirata’ by José de Espronceda. I think taking our motto from a pirate song is a good start. Thoughts? Feelings?
Or it could be our secret callsign.

As black a day...

..as our cult has ever experienced is today. Today our cult has lost its high Sassydotisa. I cannot even begin to assess the impact that this has had on our cult, but I am inclined to say that our cult will probably at this point, close its doors.

Sadness overwhelms all of us left in this shell of a cult as we morn the loss of one of our own. Clearly the witiest, smartest and most original member of our cult has disappeared. Although we can all hope that it is a software error and she will be returning, this may be false hope. And false it may be, but we will cling to it, for it is all we have.

I know I will never be able to look upon a home made toga with the same humour again, nor enter an all red house without missing her tremendously.

The remaining members, and most importantly, leaders left in this cult wish her well in whatever it is she endevours, and they wish her to know that this cult and this site will never be complete without her. For whatever reason she left, we will assume it is to pursue far loftier goals and judging from the vigor and sparkle that she showed in everything she did, I am sure whe will more than succeed at whatever she tries. ¡Buen viaje! Note: all those touched by this event are free to share their feelings here in this cult.

Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep
I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea.
-Dylan Thomas

I have wanted to do this for quite some time...

...but this goal has just sort of rolled around the periphery of even my fantasy goals; those goals so mythological in proportion and liklihood that you really don’t even admit to having them. Well, Matlock just came on TV and he is defending a father of a child who is accusing him of killing the leader of the cult that the son belongs to. Well, I realize I have to put the goal down here.
Now I am not talking about the kind of cult that this kid belonged to. That cult was the evil kind of cult that fleeces and brainwashes its members. The kids cult also had that vague sort of pseudo-religious backstory that all evil cults seem to have.
No, the cult I am envisioning is more about beauty and kindness. A strong theme has to be exploring and enjoying all things that are beautiful in the world. I have always loved decorative languages, such as shakesperian english or at least people who speak and write with vivid imagery, so that is going to have to form part of the cult. I also love the whole pantheon of gods and festivals that were part of the Roman times, so including some of these aspects in the cult is important, definitely bacchinalias(sp?).
So the cult would be more of a gathering of like minded individuals and friends all gathered for a party. Now I know this doesn’t sound exactly like a cult, but if you are like-minded then you will know why it will be a cult. Also a cult requires a leader and that is why I put this goal down as start my OWN cult.
So I think my next step on this goal is to get a firmer vision of what this cult will be like. Any ideas?
