just bought a gym and wants me to be a trainer there. I have no excuses.

My first approach was to let other people tell me about what’s available and what certification is best. That didn’t work out so well, I need to do my own research if I’m serious about it. My biggest concern is being competent. Part of being competent is for me to sit in a classroom to learn about being a personal trainer. There are a number of “study-at-home” certifications, but I work best learning through visual and auditory means. I need a classroom setting. I used to think that I didn’t have the concentration to work independently, but that’s not the case. It’s just a matter of how I learn best and that’s in a classroom setting. So there’s an orientation on the 18th of this month to talk about a 6 Saturday class held by a community college. This sounds better suited for me. Thanks Mikaela for finding the information (more of me not doing the research, she enabled me to be lazy)
no one regulates this shit. I can send away $300 and be a certified trainer? I spoke to a personal trainer and briefly learned about the different certification organizations, so I’m researching them. If anyone has any suggestions fire away.
so I can offer a well-rounded approach to people when I open my own practice. I’m about to finish my Masters and want to have my own practice within a couple of years. I don’t want to offer just mental health services, I want to evaluate and be able to offer people services that can help complete them; a good diet, exercise, mental health therapy, etc. Getting healthy is more than working on one of the aforementioned items, delivering a holistic approach to getting healthy.
