So, doing proper push-ups continues to hurt my back. I’ve decided to add core-strengthening exercises to my push-up routine to get strong enough to keep my back straight while doing proper push-ups, but in the meantime I’ve switched to girly push-ups to take the stress off my lower back.
I’m doing about 70-75 girly push-ups right now, which probably (maybe) translates to half that in proper push-ups. I hope it’s at least half. I’ll consider myself to have made real progress when I can do 150 girly, but I hope to switch back to proper ones well before that. We’ll see.
I’ve discovered an issue with my right wrist as well. For some reason it won’t bend as far back as my left, so I have trouble bringing my right arm in close to my body to work my triceps properly. When I get my hands set up with correct spacing, I get shooting pains in my wrist when I lower myself. I guess I’ll have to add wrist-limbering movements to my repertoire.
Did I mention that getting old sucks?
