In the recent past, during a time of much deliberation about whether to get a kitten, or whether to wait, is it ok not to have a garden, blah blah, I happened to be sitting around doing some work when in through the window climbed an extraordinary beast.
He entered as though he was the postman looking for a signature- cautious yet determined, and upon clocking his surroundings sidled up to me and hopped onto my lap.
It was like he fell from the sky. He now dosses at my flat most nights, has his own side of the bed, and permanent access to the fridge (we share the bathroom).
I call him Ginkgo and I think he’s the most affectionate, or rather, attention-seeking feline Ive ever met. He sleeps with his paw on my chin. He came as a gift from god at a time of need and I love him. Plus, he likes to stay at my neighbour’s too so I dont have to worry when outta town. In fact, he’s not MY cat at all, its more like I’m HIS, or we’re just good friends.
If you want it, imagine it and it shall pass.

Is it me or there a kitten drought on?
After much debating I decided to look around the market for any current deals on kittens. None to be found. Not at the cattery or in the local papers. WHERE HAVE ALL THE PUSSIES GONE?
Is it all gonna get a bit illicit? Am I gonna have to scour the black market? Imported East European kittens smuggled through in shipping containers?
I had this idea that I’d just go to the river where folks would be queueing up to lob sacks of cats loaded with rocks.
Is this a sign telling me to wait til I get a flat with a garden?

I’ve been seriously thinking about getting a little pussy (sorry, obvious bad joke I know) for a couple of months or so.
Trouble is, I live in a very small flat with no garden and there’s a pretty busy road to cross to get to the park. I’m wondering if you could possibly train a kitten to cross the road safely? I know this might sound ridiculous but I’ve had 2 cats killed on the road before :-( and just don’t wanna risk it. She wouldn’t have to learn the Green Cross Code or anything, just learn to always look before she crosses.
I don’t know, is it fair to keep a cat if you don’t have a garden?
