I signed up for a myspace account in order to do some networking, keep up with trends (kind of a job-related thing), maybe meet a few peeps. Today I realized I could look up people who graduated from my high school. There were 18 people who were listed that graduated the same year I did and I didn’t recognize ANY of them. I take that back – 1 person I did, and we’ve friended each other. And it’s not like my class was that big. It was a weird experience, looking through that set of profiles. About the only thing I had in common with any of them was my high school itself.
On the plus side, I’ve met one person through Shambhala that I wouldn’t have otherwise and that was really nice. And I’ve found a couple other cool people too. I can see the positive side of myspace, definitely, but overall, I’m not sure it’s going to have the same pull on me that a site like 43things does.

while on retreat in Colorado. I hope we can meet up again someday, perhaps at a different retreat. In the meantime, email is helping us keep in touch. I’m not always the best about keeping on top of my email, but it cheers me up, particularly when I’m having a lonely moment, to sign in and find mail from friends.

Turns out there really was a problem with the email, but they said it should be fixed now. Josh Petersen said to contact him if it continues.

I’ve got a question, team – Shouldn’t we be getting all the entries written under “Make new friends” in our email? For example, I still get a ton of “Identify 100 things that make me happy besides money” emails even though I finished that goal over a month ago. But for some reason, particularly over the last few days, I’ve not been receiving posts to my own entries, let alone posts under this team goal. Is anyone else having this problem?
I only noted that people were responding to my replies when I looked at the latest entries that the people I’m subscribed to had written. No email notification. And they aren’t in my spam folder either…

I am wondering if any of you have explored other networking groups such as those mentioned in this article:

I wonder how useful these types of groups could really be for finding jobs?

of our team’s contact info was created and sent out to everyone on our team that I had an email address for. The people who haven’t posted their contact information to the list are Timothy, multiplesofnine, Tidbitz, lizziebean, and jase. I don’t want to include your info until you give me the go-ahead, even if I already have it. So if you get a chance, drop me a line! I will send out a revision of the list next weekend.

Something Milkbox said made me think of this. Would it be helpful if I compiled a list of everyone’s info from our postings to this team and sent it out to us through email? The advantage to doing this is that all the info would be in one place and then we could delete our original postings here (if desired), so that the whole world no longer has access to our stuff. I could make a list of just the IM ids and email addresses. After that, when people join us, they could do what milkbox did – post their info and then delete it. We’d all get it in our email, and we could decide for ourselves whether or not to contact them (meaning I wouldn’t send the list to newcomers unless everyone wanted me to, in order to keep our contact information private.) What do you think?

Hey everyone! I set up my AIM and Yahoo! IM – my screen name for both is Kristabellebean.
I don’t know exactly how it works, but please feel free to invite others to this team. Or, if needed, tell me who you’d like to add and I’ll send out the invitations. You can never have enough friends! :)
Also, since I already posted my email address, if anyone wants to share their email but doesn’t want to go public on 43things with it, I am happy to facilitate. You can email me and I can forward your address to whoever you want, if I have their address on file.
Deni, Amy, and Jean – I have added you guys to my buddy lists.
Just so’s you know – My laptop is actually in the shop right now and I’m using my sister’s. My time online is a bit sporadic right now because of this.

So great to see you all on my page again! Would anyone like to share email addresses? Mine is kristabellebean at gmail.com. If anyone ever wants to chat outside of 43things, email me! Maybe we could all get together and IM sometime?
