I decided that starting Jan 1st, we’re going to give the Mvelopes a try. I think this is a system that will really help me visualize where our money is going.
Besides our house and one car, we don’t have any debt and my husband is a great saver and investor, however I know we have money that could be put to use in a better way.

Yikes…I really, really need to work on this goal. We had so many out of the box expenses this month. School registration and supply fee’s, soccer registration, dance registration and monthly tuition, school tuition, etc, etc, etc.
I’m so overwhelmed as to where or how to start with the budget thing as it seems like our months vary all the time. It’s hard to figure out what a typical month is like and base it on that because it changes so often.
Either way, this needs to be done soon!

Why is creating a budget such a daunting task??

My husband and I really need to sit down and do this. I want to do it at a time where we are both realistic about our finances and are in a happy mood. I’d hate for it to turn into an argument or something. My husband tends to be more of a pessimist while I’m more of an optimist when it comes to finances!
I’m working on saving, although this week I’ve spent a little too much time shopping online and buying things. I usually just window shop, but I needed some things this week ( a new swimsuit, a flat iron). I did put a book back yesterday that I was going to buy at B&N. That’s a small step!
