get a job

I have a job! FINALLY! I’‘m in the Student Corps Program with the Career Center on campus. I’m one of 25 students who can apply for temp jobs on campus. I have to check their website every week and sign up for available jobs. I’m excited! I’ve been looking since NOVEMBER!

I have an interview to be a house cleaner. I could do that. It certainly isn’t glamorous, but there are worse jobs. My mom busted up laughing when I told her what the job was. Psssh! I think it’s different if I’m cleaning other people’s stuff, not my own. I can do it!!

One restaurant called me at about 12. I called back at 4, and the lady had gone home for the day. I called back the next day at 10:45 (as instructed) and she said they had already interviewed a bunch of people. Ahhh! So…I have applied to a few more places but…I so want to give up until the summer. My bank account is getting low, though, so maybe that isn’t such a good idea…this sucks…

So, I’ve decided to try to get a job as a waitress. I figure it would be a lot easier to get that kind of job than most other ones I’ve been applying for. They also cycle through people more quickly, so they won’t hate me as much when I leave at the end of June. Maybe they’d even hire me back after I return at the end of July! Hmmm…

My interview at Macy’s went VERY well, and I’m almost positive I got the job. I’d be working in the gift wrapping department, which sounds just fine and dandy. Yayyyyy Macy’s!

Didn’t get the one at Office Max. How crappy!

SO! I went job-hunting again. A bunch of places just flat out said they weren’t hiring, and that was that. :-(
However! Office Max was pretty promising. They had a help wanted sign, they need people to work Tues/Thurs (I can!), and I filled out an application at their store. Wee! I hope I get that. That’d be awwwwwesome.

I didn’t get the job at the bank. Of course, the lady didn’t call me when she said she was going to. I called her yesterday, and she was like, “We’re a little behind. I’ll let you know by the end of the week.” I got a letter today that said I didn’t get it. AHH!
So, I’m going job-hunting again on Saturday. This sucks. That’s what I get for living in a college town. I got lucky when I looked for jobs Senior year of HS. I applied to 4 places and basically got 2. Sigh Ok, wish me luck!

I had an interview at a bank a few days ago. I should hear from the asst manager by Monday. Wahh!
