I grew last year came back, and our garden has more butterflies, dragonflies and bees ~ something we had been missing the last couple of years. We also bought some new plants for the back of the yard ~ hostas, daylillies, lavender, funky grasses, an ice plant and a few others I can’t remember right now ~ which should be interesting. We’re totally winging this. :o)

The back seems a little daunting though. I’ll concentrate on keeping my new seedlings in the front hydrated and save the backyard for next weekend.
8 hours, 30 bags of top soil, 10 flagstones, 1 bag of mulch, a cut, edged lawn, 2 washed cars (?!), 1 cleaned garage, various transplanted plants, several weeds, 2 sunburns, 8 Advil and 2 Bengay pain patches later ~ the yard is starting to shape up. :oD
and we’ve started messing around in the garden again. I come up with all these great ideas during the Winter months, then Spring comes and I’m reminded of how much ground I have to cover. Ack!
but we managed to tear up the sod along the back fence and create a beautiful space for additional plants.
are a little more “wild” than I thought. They took over the whole garden! I’ve got plants taller than me (and I’m almost 5’7”). :oO
Put in a cute little retaining wall around our bushes in front of the house. I swear I’d never attempt any of this stuff without my husband, who just jumps right in with his ideas and enthusiasm.
Sowed a bunch of wildflower seeds last month, and now the garden bed is covered with little seedlings. I have no clue what’s coming up (I used a seed mix), so I’m anxious to see how this turns out.
We hope to dig around and make a second flower bed this weekend.
as to what I’m doing, but that rarely stops me. :o) My husband thinks we can jazz up the backyard, so we decided to go for it this summer. We already have a nice flower bed, but we’re going to add on some extra stuff…perhaps along the back fence. Plus I need to learn how to group my tulips better ~ right now they’re scattered, and it’s pretty obvious a novice planted them. :oD
