Before 2009 I was always so logical, but it wasn’t until I learned the value of knowing when to follow my heart that I found myself, true love, and happiness. It started with ending things with my awful, psychotic, emotionally abusive, neglectful fiance. Then I had an amazing summer where I simply followed my heart and lived. I made some mistakes along the way, but it was necessary for my journey to self-discovery. I found myself, a sense of freedom and peace despite my circumstances and then met the love of my life. I followed my heart with him as well, risking starting a relationship with someone I hadn’t met face-to-face, meeting him in person, moving to be with him over 300 miles after three months of dating, becoming engaged two months later, and getting married four and a half months after that. The thing is I knew him from the moment I met him, knew that I had found the one, so making all those leaps, taking all those chances seemed so natural and safe. But, my old nature could easily have made me take the alternate path, and I would hate to think of where I would be then.
The best of my life has come from following my heart, listening to the intuition God gave me, and believing that He has a plan for my life and doing my bed to find and follow it. It’s not about following one or the other-your head, your heart-but finding the balance. I found that balance, so can you.
