Independence. Semi-independence. I escaped from one situation. And yes, it’s ultimately for the best. I realize this.
But sometimes… I would rather be an abused, dejected slave with no sense of self-worth and no free choices than have to fight like hell for everything all on my own.
I know how lucky I am. I really do. But most days I’m homesick for a place I never lived, nostalgic for a past that never happened.
