make a family tree

My grandpa Drrl on my dad’s side said he would be interested in helping me with stories, connections, etc. Wonder what he’ll come up with. Glad he’s willing to come up with anything at all…

I’ve rarely given much thought to my heritage, it wasn’t something that came up a lot in my family unless we were making family trees for school projects or something, and even then, I didn’t grow up in a family that shared a lot of stories from the past, particularly not from past generations. Now that I am growing older and thinking of someday having children of my own, and as I fear losing my grandparents in the coming years (who are the only keepers of this knowledge since my parents are so disinterested, not to mention split up long ago), the idea of a family tree is suddenly much on my mind. I want to do it before it’s too late. That’s kind of sad to think of, but it’s also a small way of maintaining a link between the past and the future.
