Day 6- 2 years ago

The girl in front of me didn’t have enough money to pay for her meal, so I gave her the extra cash. She looked at me weird at first, like why would a random stranger offer to pay for my food, but she did say thank you before she left.

Day 5 2 years ago

I had in my posession a coupon for a half priced lunch at a local restaurant. I was all ready to redeem it when I noticed a group of ER nurses from the local hospital behind me. I looked at the coupon and the $10 in my hand, turned to the nurse behind me and asked her if she would like a coupon. She did. :)

A V-E-R-Y pregnant woman was shopping with a friend and kind of blocking the aisle where my husband and I were also trying to shop. At the check out, I noticed the same V-E-R-Y pregnant woman behind us, sans friend, reaching into her cart for a large box. I asked her if she needed some help as she was pulling out her cell phone to call her friend who was in the dressing room. She thanked me anyway though, which was nice. After we left, my husband said, “Honey, that was very nice of you.” I think that meant more to me than anything. :)

Day 4-ish: 2 years ago

A co-worker’s family member was hospitalized during the week and I covered for her so her work could get done. My office really doesn’t like it when you take unscheduled leave, so when someone does certain co-workers of mine start berating the missing person behind their back. Why they can’t just stay quiet, I don’t know. But the reason why I chose to write this is because this act of kindness truly was random! I totally forgot about it and didn’t even consider it to be an act of kindness until I started going over what I’d done for others. So my opinion has been changed, some acts of kindness can be random! :-)

Day 3- 2 years ago

1.) So there’s this woman at work that no one really cares for. She left our office for a bit and then came back to a desk that had been virtually picked clean … even her chair was gone. So I helped get her some office supplies and tried to make her feel welcome again, even though she really isn’t.

2.) I donated to the Good Will today. My mom, in all her hysterectomy recovery bordem, cleaned out her closet and gave me a huge bag full of perfectly good stuff that I would never wear. So, driving home and in need of a good Halloween costume, I stopped by the local Good Will in search of a good 80’s prom queen dress. Once I acquired the goods, I decided to give the bag of clothes to people who could use them.

Again, I still think acts of kindness are anything but random, but it’s a good thing to set out on a mission to be kind.

Not So Random For Me 2 years ago

Day 2 -
1.) My mom called and asked if we would pick her up something to eat. Simple enough, if we didn’t live 30 minutes away from her. Still, she can’t drive for another 5 weeks and a trip to Sonic didn’t kill us.
2.) I always thank my waiter/waitress at any restaurant. Please and Thank You is a big deal to me. I could care less if their job is to bring you stuff, the least you can do is be nice to them. Oh, and if you go out for sushi, tip the chef as well as the server – it’s only polite.

Day 1 2 years ago

Just one for today – I stopped to let a guy cross the street. I think he was happy to wait on the little yellow lines until I passed, but I waved him on. Better for him to get his lunch at Harry’s than me to save 5 seconds of drive time.

Even Though I Think Kindness Shouldn't Be Random ... 2 years ago

I still want to do more for those who don’t exist within the little bubble I call my life.
