Buy a House

The final walk-thru was tonight. The house looks completely different empty. There are so many areas to fill w/ furniture. Also, so many things to clean/paint/patch. Honestly, it was exciting but overwhelming at the same time. I’ll have to keep reminding myself to focus on one thing at a time. The owner was there and showed us how to work the pool and what all the switches did, that was very nice. The seller’s also left us a bunch of supplies for the yard, sprinkler system & fireplace. And left us a bottle of champagne – how thoughtful is that?

So by noon tomorrow, I’ll be a homeowner. It’s been a long road!

Less than 4 weeks till closing!!

I just read someone else’s post about getting an insurance quote – when are we suppose to do that? No one has said anything about that to us. I guess I need to shoot off some emails and see if there is anything else we are overlooking.

After making 2 offers that resulted in disappointment, we’re finally under contract!! Woo hoo! Closing is Oct 9th.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since we put in the offer on the short sale house. I’m getting very tired of waiting.

Well, Hubs & I took a little break. House hunting is not our favorite thing to do & we were really frustrated by the last ordeal we went through when we put in an offer. Anyhow, we’re back at this now. We put in an offer on a short sale last night. Now we wait…

The house we’ve been pursuing is now a wash. The owner’s are unreasonable and unwilling to compromise, even though the house is extremely overprices and the economy is continuing to plummet. Time to move on…it feels like this is never going to happen.

I truly believe we received the worst counter-offer in the history of home buying.

Round 2.

We wrote up a contract and now we have to wait for an answer…

This is the single most exhausting experience of my life.

And found a great contender. So great that I’m tempted to stop looking and pursue this one alone. I had nearly everything we want: split bedroom, 2 living area, large yard, privacy, great pool & patio, perfect location…

The concerns are: major road w/i ear shot, not much storage space, small master bath, no inside laundry room.

These are all negatives that are far outweighed by positives. The only other house that we’ve enjoyed is in an area of town that is not convenient to shopping/restaurants/etc. That house had more positives though…lots of storage, inside laundry, inviting neighborhood.

I hate house shopping. So many decisions.

I originally set this goal to be completed by July 08. However, I just quit my job…so it’ll have to be pushed back to the end of the year.
