I’m working on writing more. I’ve had a story idea for years. It’s matured from something that would have been lame into something that may have potential. The problem with that is that I have to do a lot of pre-writing writing. Collect my thoughts and ideas, arrange them into a sort of reference.
I’ve been trying to get my pre-writing done but I keep using my son as an excuse. He’s just learning to crawl so I’m constantly having to keep an eye on him more than usual.
I got a good word processor recently (www.openoffice.org). It’s freeware and works just as well, if not better, than any of the programs you’d have to pay big bucks for. It’s been acting as incentive for me to write since it’s new and shiny. Sometimes I need new and shiny things to get me going.
I think after the past two weeks of thinking, plotting and organizing that I’m finally able to start writing the REAL piece. There are still gaps and missing chunks from my “reference” but I’m pretty sure it’s just stuff I can fill in as I go.
We’ll see how this works =)
