save the polar bears

I reduced my carbon footprint by buying a small hybrid car. I love how quiet it is when it’s working on battery power. And it doesn’t smell when idling (puts out no emissions when on battery power).

The Bush administration thinks we need to drill for oil in polar bear habitat. But what if we reduced our demand for oil, instead?

Petition the Bush Administration to add the polar bears to the endangered species list. The deadline is January 31.

I’m continuing to support the Center for Biological Diversity. This week has seen a ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (my own west coast circuit) to prevent drilling for oil in Prudhoe Bay. You can read an article about the ruling, here:

what I could do, when I added this goal to my list. Then I heard an article on NPR yesterday about the polar bears being listed as threatened on the Endangered Species List. The Center for Biological Diversity was named as one of the organizations working on this effort. So today I made a donation to the Center.
