Making a rune set is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now but somehow never got around to. But, I’ve finally gotten my motivation
My parents have a beautiful Acer rubrum (red maple) in their yard. It’s old and huge, four feet wide at the base and over 150 feet tall. I spent a good bit of my childhood up that tree.
Sadly, it was damaged in the Virginia earthquake last August. The tree divides into two about fifteen feet up and after the quake a huge crack developed at the fork which has only gotten larger over the last few months.
So it’s coming down.
I love the idea of being able to keep a part of it, so later today I’ll go out with the hedgeclippers and slice myself enough disks to make a set of runes.
