Yoga Graduation Day - 30 in 30 on January 24th! 2 years ago

Today marks the end of my two-week Internet hiatus. I didn’t plan on being away from posting for so long but life intervened and I just couldn’t find the time and if I had the time the last thing I wanted to see was a computer screen! But that doesn’t mean I didn’t find the time to practice yoga!

On 1/14 I caught my practices back up to my days at 20 times/20 days. I have been practicing at least once a day ever since, rotating AM/PM Yoga for Beginners and Baron Baptist’s Power Yoga Level 1. I hit the 30 in 30 mark this past Wednesday and didn’t realize it until I sat down to write this post.

I’m so glad I joined this team and had such wonderful people to share this journey with. I wish everyone just starting out on this path the best and I look forward to reading your posts and watching everyone’s progress as time goes on – there’s a lot of new members in the two weeks I’ve been gone! At this point I’d have to say that starting a yoga practice, however slowly, is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself!

Ironically enough, this is the quote on the side of the page as I write this, “Because of its tiny wings and heavy body, aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly. But the bumblebee doesn’t know that, so it flies anyway,” which perfectly describes me and yoga! There were so many misconceptions, excuses and reasons I could have used as to why I shouldn’t even attempt yoga but I’m so glad I didn’t listen!



New dvd and mat 2 years ago

Unfortunately I got a little behind on my yoga practice schedule by running out of time to practice on Thursday and just being too tired to do much of anything on Friday.

I got back on track today by practicing twice. I did my usual power yoga tape this morning with my new yoga mat, which was wonderful – the practice and the new mat.

Tonight I did Patricia Walden’s PM Yoga since my AM/PM Yoga for Beginners DVD finally arrived from Netflix. I went ahead and watched AM Yoga after I finished so I’d be all ready to try that out tomorrow morning.

Only time for sun salutations again tonight. I’m looking forward to Friday when I know I’ll have plenty of time. The good news is that I keep thinking, “I wish I had more time for yoga,” and not “I wish I had more time to watch TV,” or something equally as unhealthy. At least I’m wishing I could be doing more good things for myself!

Twenty minutes... 2 years ago

of sun salutations tonight. I didn’t have much time tonight but I really tried to concentrate as much as I could on each movement and pose. I’m really starting to get frustrated with the little time I’ve had lately to devote to practicing. Hopefully I’ll have more time tomorrow and can try out my new dvd that should be in my mailbox right now (I haven’t had time to check my mail either).

Another Late Night 2 years ago

I practiced later than I would have liked again tonight which also meant I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked. I ended up doing the same section of my power yoga tape that I did last night. It’s interesting to me how much longer my arms seem each time I practice triangle pose, like I’m reaching further and further each time. At first I thought my perception of my body was changing but now I think it’s more accurate to say that I’m gaining perception of my body.

I was busy... 2 years ago

but I got in some yoga a few minutes ago. I just started my power yoga tape from where I left off yesterday and did the second section. I can’t wait to get the new dvd and try it out!

Not Much Time 2 years ago

I am visiting my parents tonight and tomorrow so I didn’t have much time before I left home this morning. I did manage to complete the Sun Salutation sequence at the beginning of my Power Yoga tape this morning – about 20 minutes. I wish I had time for more but I had to get on the road. I should be getting a new dvd from Netflix within the next few days. I forget what I put on my list so it will be a surprise when it gets here and a new challenge, I’m sure!

Late Night Yoga 2 years ago

I just finished Baron Baptiste’s Power Yoga Level 1 tape a little bit before midnight. It felt great after having trained with weights earlier tonight. I’m really starting to look forward to practicing each day although I’m going to have to start switching my practice to the morning soon!

Who Knew? 2 years ago

If someone had told me 11 days ago that I was going to start making yoga a daily practice, I would have laughed at them. But here I am, on day 10, bending and stretching and breathing along with everyone else on this wonderful team! I have really surprised myself this time.

Tonight I did twenty minutes of sun salutations, not as much as yesterday but considering 11 days ago I had attempted yoga exactly once, I think I’m doing pretty good.

Tired but Happy! 2 years ago

I doubled my practice time tonight, giving myself permission to stop any time after half-way through if I was too tired. I didn’t stop and finished my tape. I feel good! I am really starting to be able to tell that I’m getting a little further and deeper into my poses each time I practice. Little by little, I’m getting a little better!
