I started getting ready for bed about an hour before I usually would—and guess what? It takes me that long to get ready for bed.
The idea was that I’d get more sleep and therefore be able to get up earlier. Well I was asleep slightly earlier than usual (like 30 minutes) but still slept way too long.
At least a couple days a week I don’t get home til about 9:15 pm and I still haven’t had any dinner - I can’t not eat or ignore my spouse in favour of going to bed in order to get a decent waking up time - What is the solution?

work on this goal has been almost completely non-existent. In fact, my lateness in arising has only gotten worse and worse.
I have made lots of improvements to my quality of life over the past six months (definitely encouraged by 43 Things!), but waking up earlier has not been one of them.
I’m pretty unimpressed with myself in this department and it’s time to sort it out.
Step One: make a list of stuff I need to do before going to bed for the night
Step Two: do those things
Step Three: go to bed at a decent hour (2:30 am, an all-time record set last night for a school night, is not acceptable)

You can therefore guess how this goal has been (not) progressing.
On Monday however I ought to make a special effort.
We’ll see.
UPDATED TO ADD: Monday I was actually home sick. How ironic.

has been tough in the waking up earlier department.
I think I am beginning to notice something, however. When I eat a starchy dinner the night before, I am extra sleepy in the morning. I notice it is the worst if I eat chocolate after a late dinner. I did that last night and this morning I was so groggy it was as though I had been drugged.
I will keep my eye on the nutrition / sleep correlation but I am never giving up chocolate. I am sleepy, not stupid.

Well today I still got up earlier in the sense that I woke up earlier than has been my established pattern; but this morning when my alarm went off I seem to have shut it off in my sleep.
I woke up again 5 minutes before I was supposed to leave, according to the parameters of this early shift I’m pulling this week. Of course, that didn’t happen. Fortunately nothing bad seems to have come of it.
I am just grateful I did wake up at 5:55. Ordinarily I would be out cold at that hour, and with the past few long days at work, waking up at that time today, is an even greater miracle.

I got up three hours earlier for work. (I must note that yesterday I did not leave work 3 hours earlier). This is meant to be the pattern for this week; we will see how we do.
The up side to such a long day, concluded by a dance class, is that I had no trouble falling asleep.

than usual this morning which is good. However I am feeling like a bit of a zombie. Missing my target bedtime by ninety minutes last night probably has something to do with that.

after a 3-week hiatus I realise that I had “committed” myself to going to bed every night (weeknight) by 11 pm and lights out by 12 am. Not a commitment I have remembered to honour…! But tonight? Ok, here it is folks. Tonight, I will go to bed at my promised time of 11 pm. Let’s hope this makes a difference to my getting up time. After all, tomorrow morning I have to go vote the Liberals out of office, and if that’s not motivation to get out of bed, I don’t know what is.
