It seems that many people living in cities are feeling alienated from society. When life centred around a village there was a lot of support available because everyone knew each other. Now it is not unusal not to even know one’s neighbours.
I know of a lot of such people who have come to this point. I am making it my business to contact them or visit where possible. Perhaps to suggest some ways in which they can “create villages” within these cities.

Last Sunday I had a phone call from a friend who is living all alone. By simply inviting him across for dinner and a bit of a chat, I could see how appreciative he was. It’s the small things that count.

My mother who will turn 80 soon lives by herself. Quite frankly she can drive me mad when I visit. I am really going to try and be pleasent from now on.
