Get more people to travel to Africa

I’ve started 2 Flickr groups about South African heritage. In the first couple of weeks many fine images have been posted by the members. These can be found at:

I have added the KwaZulu-Natal National Parks (Imfolozi, Hluhluwe, Mkuze, Ndomo, Ithala) and also mapped them and the rest camps in the Kruger National Park.

Going up to Mkuze in 10 days and will give the new camera a good work out.

I have added some more of the rest camps in the Kruger National Park to www.43places.com. I’ve included short descriptions and some photos.

Having just returned from a four day stay at the Kruger National Park, I can highly encourage others to visit there. The trick is to NOT be in a rush. Go slow and enjoy the animals, the birds, the flora, the wide sky.

It is so easy to arrange a self-guided tour booking accomodation through the official SA Parks web site [it can be advisable to book well in advance, although out of the school holidays and excluding weekends accomodation can be found on a few weeks notice].

I think this is preferable than a organized “bus” tour in the park. Be sure to have (or buy there) a map of the park and remember that the park gates and camp gates have strict closing times.

I am actively encouraging African travel by replying to information requests on the rec.travel.africa newsgroup in a positive manner. Glad to do my bit.

The Rift Valley lakes: Malawi, Tanganyika and Victoria.
