Yesterday: done!

I picked up and dealt with clutter, cleaned the counters and swept the kitchen floor, and vacuumed.

Going out to dinner tonight. I am going to try not to eat too much, so that I can still have my wits about me and clean a bit when I get home.

Tonight’s tasks: empty the dishwasher, sort laundry, and sweep/mop the bathroom floor if there’s time.

Got more specific with this goal

“Clean a little” is too vague. 20 min. seems like a reasonable amount to start cleaning on a daily basis. I can get a good chunk of stuff done in that time, but it’s small enough that it’s not overwhelming.

I’m hoping that UfYH comes out with an Android app soon! In the meantime, I’m planning to do 3 20-min cleaning sessions this evening (with breaks in between).

“Cleaning” can be anything from taking out the trash to emptying the litter box to vacuuming etc at this point. Reorganizing too, possibly, if part of the reorganizing involves tossing lots of stuff.

No deep cleaning, but check.

I cleaned the bathroom, the kitchen, and did the usual vacuuming (main drags, no crevice tool). 1:1 solution of vinegar and water, plus eucalyptus and lemongrass essential oils = AMAZING!

The goal for this week is to move out more of the additional crap – the microwave that I’m donating, the tv etc. that goes back to my friend’s house, the broken Xmas tree that needs to go out with the garbage – all of that noise.

The new place is taking shape.

There are still places here and there that are full of stuff that hasn’t been dealt with yet, but the majority of the apartment is livable.

This weekend, I washed all of the windows and sills (they were FILTHY; still a little streaky now, but much better). I also rearranged furniture to 1. get rid of the TV (again, different hand-me-down tv) and 2. give the stero/record player its own stand. Vacuumed a bit too.

There’s a bowl of oranges sitting on my dining room table and I’m a happy camper.

Check.

I’m not going to do a super-deep cleaning every week – the plan is to sweep/dust/maybe mop, pick up messes, and maybe tackle one or two small deep cleaning projects. The point is to keep the place feeling cleaner more of the time, and to avoid having to clean EVERYTHING at one time.

I really don’t have a good excuse not to do this – it’s just me and the cats, and the place is so small, it doesn’t really take long to clean it.

Actual cleaning tomorrow...

...scrubbing, mopping and such. But I did quite a bit of cleaning OUT tonight. Went through all my drawers and boxes and at least one of my closets – made the stuff I use easier to get to and put away, got rid of a bunch of stuff I don’t need anymore, including some things that bring back painful memories.
