I’m doing a lot better on this one. I’ve gotten a new alarm clock which has a 5-minutes snooze (instead of 10-minutes before) and I usually only snooze once (max twice) :)

I was starting to think if that maybe was enough but then I read this great article How To Get Up Right Away When Your Alarm Goes Off

The article is about how you can practice so that eventually your subconscious will take over and run the morning routine of getting up on autopilot – i.e. condition a new physiological response to the sound of your alarm.

When your alarm goes off, turn it off as fast as you can. Then take a deep breath to fully inflate your lungs, and stretch your limbs out in all directions for a couple seconds. Then sit up, plant your feet on the floor, and stand up. Smile a big smile. Then proceed to do the very next action you’d like to do upon waking.

Once the habit is established, it isn’t hard at all to get up, assuming you’re going to bed at a reasonable time (that is when you feel sleepy enough).

I’m going to give this a try before I check of this goal :) I’ll go to bed only when I’m too sleepy to stay up, and try get up at a fixed time every morning.

Do I really want to spend over 100 hours snoozing per year? 7 months ago

I love hitting the snooze button, and since it has kind of gotten the rule rather the exception to hit it a few times, I usually set my alarm accordingly to allow for it. I didn’t really see it as a problem until I started to do some math.

Lets say that I snoozes 3 times on average (10minutes each snooze) every morning, 5 times a week for a year this is what it looks like…

3×10x5×52= 7800 minutes per year => 130 hours

Now that’s a time I would like to spend doing something different!
