So I finally bought not one, but two Blythes! (and if my husband knew how much they cost, he’d be listing them right back atcha, ebay.) Both secondhand of course. A Velvet Minuet and a Birdie Blue. Velvet is my favourite, I think. The kids instantly tried to adopt them, but I was getting freaked out by the over-enthusiastic eye-colour changing and the hair getting mussed up, so both dolls have been removed from their sticky little fingers. Just too expensive to allow the kids to break them, which they inevitably would. They’re both sitting on top of the crappy cardboard packing-box wardrobes we’ve still got in use in our bedroom, and they make me smile whenever I look at them. So now it’s a case of making an outfit – I’ve got plenty of patterns, but not very much time at the moment (and my head is full of other stuff) so Part Two may take a while.
