Modifiers and qualifiers 20 hours ago

I have also been wondering about qualifiers and modifiers. I read some about modifiers in my grammar books. I think I understand. I will test my understanding with some exercises in this grammar workbook I have.

What are qualifiers?

Case 20 hours ago

The only thing my dictionary says about whomever is that it is a pronoun. And it is the objective case of whoever. I know that case exists, but I don’t really know what it is. I know English and Latin have case and I think Spanish doesn’t. There is gender, case, and I forgot the third one.

Oooh. I love Spanish!

P.S. I forgot whoever was a word. Does that tell you how often I use it?

who, whom, whomever..??

I understand the difference between adverbs and adjectives now. And I know what is meant by the terms present and past participles.

Thank you, español.

perfective/imperfective 2 months ago

Today I went through these online tutorials about perfective and imperfective aspect. I am still not sure I understand. I will look through my grammar books to read up on it some more.

el subjuntivo... 2 months ago

I think I finally understand subjunctive and indicative mood. I don’t think I would ever understand any of this without my knowledge of Spanish. English grammar just doesn’t make sense without something to compare it to.

Oooh! And my sister brought home a Spanish/English grammar book yesterday that has the two beside one another in the book. I think that will help. I need to sit down and read through it.

Gramática 3 months ago

I finally understand auxiliary verbs and the difference between is and are.

Now, what’s up with people saying “had called” and “had went” and “had tried?” Is that correct English or not? Am I really missing something? It sounds so funny when I hear it. My friend puts had in front of almost every verb he uses! And he is usually grammatically correct, so is this right or not?

I know that in Spanish el presente perfecto de indicativo is the equivalent to “I have went there before” “I have done that already” etc etc. So is that the same thing as this “Had this and that” stuff in English?

I’m pretty confused.

I finished that yellow grammar book. I have five more grammar/ writing books to read. Hopefully all this will help me.

My heart's still beating 9 months ago

I’ve really started working on this. I now have a person helping me with it and I am going to work through my grammar books more.

Lots of work 10 months ago

I decided to try to spend a few minutes each day working on grammar. The only way I am ever going to get anywhere is if I work on this.
