I’ve been devoting most of my savings to my travel fund…right before I’m ready to go I will re-assess my finances, and try to have two thousand set aside as the starting point for my house.
Unfortunately, I’m always watching the house channel…yeah. I want my own place.

Well, with my thoughts turning now to my evil plan of mass travel, I realized I have not saved a cent for it as of yet. As I will probably be traveling for over a year with little to no chance to save for the house, I’m re-thinking things.
Anyways, I’ve currently decreased my house savings to $100 a month, and re-directed the cash I was previously saving into the travel fund.
Once I switch positions and find out how much I’ll be making (hope three weeks?) I’ll know by how much I can increase the savings.

When I first started my job they gave me a rather large signing bonus—which I would need to pay back if I left. I can keep 33% if I stay one year, 66% for two, and the full total for all three. Unfortunately, a large amount of this was eaten up by taxes and of course it needs to be paid BEFORE taxes.
I now officially have enough to pay them back in full if I leave any time before October 17th, 2008.
Which makes my “House Fund” a whopping $976.19 – My goal is to have $20 000 for a down deposit, and approx $5000 for closing costs/other.
