The Beginning

So What is my obsession with Japanese culture and language? That will have to come on another entry.
For now, I want you to understand that I have become serious about learning japanese, or nihongo. I have even started looking for a local tutor.
My progress so far may not be much, but it’s something. I have learned the hiragana and am just beginning to learn the katakana. I also ordered a book called Remembering the Kanji by James Heiseg that I should be getting sometime next week. That book will help me to learn the 1,945 or so “essential” kanji. Anyways, that won’t teach me the gramma but I have Tae Kim’s Guide to Japanese for that.
Word, I’ll make more entries as I progress.
