ACCOMPLISHED!
I found a 100% lime juice at Target…it’s expensive, but you only need a shot glass or two of it for a margarita anyway.
This may be what I have needed to finally make this goal for real…it takes away the need to find limes in the midst of January.
I want to make the margarita my own…not rely on mix, because most mix is all high fructose corn syrup. Of course I can buy limes… Most do-it-yourself recipes call for limeade, and every limeade I’ve seen so far has high fructose corn syrup in it.
I’m going to have to keep looking for a limeade concentrate or else study other frozen juices that are 100% and experiment a bit. Summer is here and it’s time for tequila, dang it.
I found out that they sell a margarita mix that is actually juice rather than high fructose corn syrup.
Too bad they are closing :( Maybe I can go pick up a bottle before that happens.
I am making these guys so often that I had to get extra ice trays today (well, for margaritas and iced tea…summer is definitely here)
People saying it was the best margarita they’ve had (probably because at most restaurants they don’t use good tequila), but I still want to branch out to a few more recipes before I mark this as done.
I bought some the shelf above Jose Cuervo. It is smooth and totally worth the extra $8 or whatever. Last night I just made a few classic ones…tequila, triple sec, a little mix, lime juice…I spent $55 on liquor, a shaker, and salt, but last night alone I made 4, which would have cost close to $30 had we been out somewhere. I need to perfect getting the salt on the rim and then try a few more recipes, and I will consider this done.
I have the book from the library as well as the email from a friend. I want to get good liquor, so I’m probably going to have to buy it in stages. It snowed last night, so I still have time before margarita summer begins. I get paid this week and will run out to get at least one of the ingredients needed so I’m not feeling like I’m spending a huge chunk of money at the liquor store.
to only be consuming them when I go out and am willing to spend $7.
I’m emailing a friend who apparently is a great mixologist as well as putting a book on hold at the library. I anxiously await the summer of the margarita. Bring it on.
