tomorrow morning, but it was cancelled from lack of interest :( Just need to keep my eyes open for other opportunities.

I got one about bird whimsy as a late christmas gift…bits of legend and poems with different bird. AND I got what looks to be a hilariously funny book about three birders who drive around the country from the library…
Today, we ran across the Audobon Society of Portland, which is a super tricked out Audobon Society. The one in my state is more of a resource center, but this one had a store, a jam session in progress, trails and sanctuaries, and a wildlife care center where they took care of injured birds and reintroduced them to the wild, or use them as education birds if they cannot be reintroduced. They had a turkey vulture, a kestral, a peregrine falcon, a spotted owl, raven, etc. Really beautiful and cool birds.
Anyway, I ALSO noticed in the Wednesday birding section in the paper at home (it’s a small section, just one half or one quarter page on Wednesday) there ARE birding events that take place, where you meet up and then go for birding walks or whatever. I think I should go. I may be the youngest one there…or I may be surprised. But I think it would be a way to get some real knowledge and meet some people outside my comfort zone (though with the same interests).
