I don’t like calling people out of the blue…if it’s a friend of mine I’m in regular contact with, sure, but for something like this, I prefer to write a letter so that they can look at their calendar and then call me back when they have a moment (the phone is really quite intrusive in some ways).
SO, I pulled out a card last night, and I’m mailing it out today with my work number so she can call and set up an evening that works for her.

Consider I took piano lessons from age 5 to 18, summers off and only once every other week my senior year of high school, but still, 13 years of solid instruction and influence (regarding piano and other stuff too). She came to my wedding and my husband and I went to her students’ piano recital last year. I’ve said for ages we should have dinner some night, and it just hasn’t happened. But now it’s on my list so it has to happen.
First step, call her and find a night that works for her. Then ascertain if I should invite her over to my parents’ house for dinner (I live an hour away now, but my parents are still close to her) or if we’ll meet out somewhere.
Not hard to do, but I really must do it. She’s not getting any younger. Neither am I, for that matter.
