Start my own school

For years, this has been my dream; nothing more. On many nights, I recall laying awake in my bed musing on the construct and conduct of my school. I designed it.. memorized it.. dreamed of it.

My dreams brought me joy. Often times, I curled up under my covers and tossed and turned with a smile on my face as I envisioned the students; healthy, happy, empowered learners.

I am an educator. One educator. I am not an institution.

I’ve learned that no one(1) person can be an institution. But I can lead an institution correctly. I can create a collegial society of educators and empowered learners.

My dream is now my goal. I’ve gone back to school to develop my skills with knowledge.. I apply that knowledge in my current capacity as an Academic Dean, and I swear upon all that is holy in this world that I will not stop until I’ve achieved my goal or die trying.

One day, God willing, I will have my own school.. One that builds, empowers, educates, and helps children to become the most amazing people any one of us can imagine. Because that is what they deserve.

“Be the change”..... watch me!

It’s simple, really. I am a teacher. I was born a teacher, I live a teacher, and I hope to die having lived as a lifelong learner and educator.

I fundamentally believe in the magnificence of every child bestowed upon this world. I recognize and understand just how much of a marvel they all are.

So, again, why start my own school? Aren’t there a whole lot of schools out there in the world, already?

Yes, but where I live, public education is poisonous and private education; pure, shameless, theft! Parents pay cold cash in tuition money to feed the greed, the greedy, and the green… and the children are short-changed.

I’m saying, “NO!” I have spent 10 years of my life bettering myself and furthering my education and personal development so that I can give my students and my son the best part of me, and in the end I have finally seen the bitter reality: A drop of honey cannot remove all the acidity in a bitter pool of squeezed lemons.

I am not strong enough. But I will be..

Isn’t it crazy? People ask each other the immortal question, “If you were given a fortune, what would you do with it?” As a child, I used to say, “buy all the chocolate in the world!”

I’d still buy a piece of chocolate, but I’d spend the rest on building a school. Lower tuition rates, but run by people who really do give a damn..
