Talk to your friends about starting a business. Talk to them as much as they can bear it, because the smell of fear and excitement that you exude (and you do, whether you can bear it or not) will get them thinking, desperately, like criminals do late at night in captivity, of things to try, ways to get out. You are their link out of their locked box, and they will suggest things to you, and you would do well to listen.
Seven friends, seven ideas, all of them worth having, some of them worth modifying, and all of them thrown out feverishly, as though it were something that had been nagging at them for centuries and it took one person doing something different to finally give them the chance to get shed of it.

Right now I’m writing a business plan for my company. It’s strange doing this. Starting from absolutely nothing and having these grand visions of the future, thinking, oh, yes, of course someday I will be able to hire other people to work with me, and for me, and then I will have a policy about that, so I should write that down. When, at the moment, I can’t even hire ME. Or pay me, rather. So very strange.
I did reserve a domain name, though. It made me feel productive. And I’d hate to go through the process of writing a business plan for a company, having already conceived of it with a certain name, and not be able to get the domain.
