As I walked out onto the Kewarau Bridge and looked at the rapidly flowing waters below, the reality suddenly hit that I was about to plunge 47 metres on an elasticized rope???
I was surprisingly completely at ease with the thought of jumping and it wasn’t until my ropes were secured and I tottled out onto the thin wooden plank with the swirling waters below that I tried to contemplate why I was doing this? I jumped on the count of 3 and for a moment had that unbelievable sensation that I was flying, and then my head plunged into the cold waters below and I was brought back to a sense of reality!
I loved every moment of the experience and would be the first in line to do it again. However, I’d like a longer free-fall, so will be on the lookout for a higher bridge next time!
