The cemetery where my twin sisters are buried is an old one. The farther back you go, the older the graves get. At the back, there are many “lamb” graves—headstones with lambs on them to mark the resting place of a child or baby. One fall, probably about 4 years ago, my family and I made an afternoon of planting tulips on all of the little children’s graves.
This May, when I was in early labor with our son, my husband and I went for a walk to the cemetery to see the graves. The tulips were in perfect bloom.
