Farther and farther way from my goal....

As my Spanish was becoming more and more fluent in my previous location of living…the 3 years of time in a place where I do not hear, read, write nor speak it…my Spanish has drifted away. It is so sad to me.
I’m not sure how to get it back with my location and my busy life that doesn’t involve Spanish speaking anymore. I miss it. I used to pray in Spanish, talk to myself in Spanish….now I can’t remember basic words. How does the mind forget so easily? I am definitely not doing well with this goal. I am reversing instead of advancing. I need to go to Mexico for awhile and pick it back up.

My Spanish is going away, farther and farther.

The longer I live in Hawaii, the less I can remember of Spanish. I am not around my Spanish speaking friends anymore to keep it fresh and have to remember words. I’m losing my Spanish and it’s very sad to me. I was doing so well that I didn’t have to be around anyone who spoke English for a long time…but now I know more Korean these days! Hawaii is so different from other places I’ve lived. It’s also the most special…something so awesome about this Big Island and the people that grew up here and also the ones who moved here. There are a portion of Spanish speaking people, but not in my crowd yet. I only catch them speaking from afar and hear my beloved Latino music.
So anyway, I give up on this for now. I’m not getting any better with Spanish, I’m totally losing it. One of my best friends only speaks Spanish and the next time we talk I’m going to be having hard time….or maybe not. Oh Jesus, make it all come back to me. Amen.
