28. The Invention of Hugo Cabret

amandaperl suggested this book to help with one of my other goals. Thanks amanda. : )

27. Darwin's Bastards

By: various authors

This is a collection of short scifi stories by 23 Canadian authors. The tales all revolve around Darwin’s theory of evolution. Some of the stories are social satires, others darkly humourous dystopian visions.

I’ve ordered it and it should arrive Monday.

It arrived, and I’ll be starting shortly when I finish a couple other books first.

26. The High Road

By: Terry Fallis.

The sequel to The Best Laid Plans.

25. The Best Laid Plans

By: Terry Fallis

This book won the Canada Reads 2011 award from the CBC which is where I heard about it.

Got it, will read it ASAP.

Finished. A nice little read. The character of Angus McClintock is how I want my politicians to actually behave.

24. Escape From Hell

By: Larry Miven & Jerry Pornelle

The sequel to Inferno.

Got it, currently reading it.

Finished it. Less humour in this sequel, and more philosophical debate, but no definitive answers. A bit of a disappointment after enjoying the first novel so much.

23. Inferno

By: Larry Miven & Jerry Pornelle

This one sounds too fucked up to not read. A retelling of Dante’s Inferno using a scifi writer as Dante and Benito Mussolini as Virgil.

Am currently reading it.

Finished it. Very good read. Some nice humour in it.

22. Dreamspeaker

By: Anne Cameron.

I have a copy of this somewhere but don’t know where, so I bought two more. I’m giving one to my niece for Christmas and keeping one for myself.
I read this as a kid and it really moved me. Can’t wait to get started on it.

Read it. It’s as good as I remembered.

21. Room

By: Emma Donoghue

This will probably be a disturbing read.

20. Flowers For Algernon

By: Daniel Keyes

Got it and read it. Great story. The last line almost made me cry… then I remembered I’m a guy and got a beer and watched some sports. I was okay after that.

19. As I Lay Dying

By: William Faulkner

It’s been ordered and should arrive on Monday. Got it and will start reading it ASAP.
