see more live music

Weezer rocked and Foo Fighter were full on Heavy Metal. AWESOME! I took my little brother. WE made plans to see more shows because we both had such a good time. We’ll have to wait and see.

I decided that I’m going to one show every month if it kills me. Started on Sept 29th. I’m traveling down to Champaign to see Umphrey’s McGee at the Canopy Club. It’s a small venue, and they’ve been playing there for years. It should be packed, and I’m sure it’ll be a great show.

My wife decided she didn’t want to go out for the fouth about a week ahead of time!!!! Oh well, we still made Summerfest and had a great time. Hopefully we can make getting out for live music a faiely regular thing, although I don’t think my wife is as into it as she was a few years ago. That, combined with our hectic work schedules makes that seem unlikely. It was great while it lasted though.

on the 4th a local radio station is hosting a free concert with Beck, JOhn Hiatt (being backed by the North Miss All-stars!), Stereophonics and Blue Merle at the Tast of Chicago. Then it’s up to Milwauke for my first trip to Summerfest to see two of my favorite live acts. Keller Williams (if you’ve never seen him go ASAP, themost amazing one-man band ever) and Chicago greats Umphrey’s McGee, can’t wait!!!

I was supposed to go to a bar and see abnd with some friends tonight, but an ignorant driver decided to smash into me on the way home from work this morning instead. I’m OK, but don’t really feel up to going out now. Next on the agenda: The Big Summer Classic at Summerfest in Mid July. Should be fun, but hopefully I can fins domeone good coming to town before that.

I went to jambase and did a search of my days off over the next month or so, and have some great options. I’m leaning toward P-Funk. I’ve seen them, and have wanted to for years.

I used to see live music all the time. Almost every weekend in fact. Now that I’m a dad, and my sons getting older, and needs more of my time, I’m finding it harder to get out to shows. But, I think if I do a little scheduling, I may be able to pull something off. My new job gives me Thursday’s off, but I owrk weekends. PLus, it’s only a temporary job, I’ll be on a different shift in a few months. I need to get out there soon!!!
