addresses, and some sessions dates. but i’ll have to wait more. That I have a second job. I still remember the moves, but I’m definitely not confident enough. I still think I need a check on my skills.

The AFPS  — 1 year ago

The AFPS means “Attestation aux Formations de Premier Secours” or First Aid Degree. I learned some ER moves with our Langly guy who was a volunteer aid, but I didn’t pass the degree, and I want to officially pass it, as I think I need an update anyway. I realized it when there was an ER in the tram. An old woman had what looked to be a (cerebral) attack (eyes open, speed and shallow breath and pulse, no answer to stimuli, palor, possible sign of internal bleeding), and I realized that even if I didn’t panick like the rest, I didn’t remember all to do, and to save a life it’s not like cooking, you can’t try to see if it’s gonna work. I think I can do better with my life than just watch.

The formation is around 10h, so it’s short. Of course it doesn’t give you a full medical formation, but teaches you how to react during the PRECIOUS minutes before the flying ER comes. It’s really accessible to all, you’re athorized to pass by the age of 10.
The advantages? SAVE LIVES. But also be there fo others in pain and distress. The disavantages? NONE. Ok maybe the price (for someone who doesn’t work) which is between 50 and 100 € (depends on the locals), but compared with what it brings, it’s nothing, plus, this money goes to make these state associations go on living, and doing the good they’ve done. Nowadays 25% people (average) in Europe know how to save a life (or simply help). In France, it’s 6%.
The money I save on my first salary will go there. See with the sessions, too, of course.
