Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Does anyone know what the right thing to do is as far as whether I should compensate the three rabbis in any fashion?
They are mostly done, except I have to talk about my Jewish role model and what books have most influenced me. Hmmm, these are hard.
I am also not positive on my Hebrew name yet although I’m getting closer.
The rabbi says I am ready and we can schedule the mikvah date. This is a pretty momentous event yet he seems very nonchalant about it. I have to write some heinous essays, and I don’t have a Hebrew name yet either. Our class doesn’t even graduate for two more months!
Wild.
I just don’t feel ready. By that, I mean I don’t feel knowledgeable enough.
I was hoping for something a little more intellectual, as I had back in the day at Hillel. No such luck. It’s going to be a long boring 4 months.
We’ve met with the rabbi again. Things are going as well as they could be. I have a lot of reading ahead of me but I’m trying to just take it step by step and not feel the pressure to rush ahead. It’s fine! I don’t need to know everything all at once. I have months and months ‘til my formal classes start, and I have another meeting with the rabbi planned.
Went to seder last night which was mostly in Hebrew. Non-fluent Hebrew. It took a looooooong time. The other seders I’ve attended over the years have been in English.
Ok, I want to finish my first book by the end of this week, and also finish my Pimsleur Hebrew by then.
Went this week, good. I followed along pretty well, I think, considering.
Have to start keeping a journal!
